HAPPY NEW YEAR!
We hope everyone had a wonderful festive season and that you are enjoying the Australian summer. This month we have some spicy salads for you – whether it’s to pack and take to work, have as a side to a bbq, or to have as a simple dinner on a warm evening.
Spices are generally used in three ways when making a salad – to marinate meat before grilling (or coating veg to be roasted); to whisk into a dressing, or to use as a crunchy and flavourful topping. However you use herbs and spices, your salad is bound to benefit!
There is nothing like a big bowl of fresh, crunchy Greek salad. Quinoa adds sustenance and protein to make it a whole meal, and of course for a non-vegan option feta is a great addition.
Our GREEK SEASONING is heavy on dried Oregano, the most ubiquitous Greek herb. It’s interesting to note that dried herbs are most often used in slow cooking, and the use of dried herbs in this way on a salad is unique and utterly wonderful!

We’ve taken the Coronation Chicken idea and created a wonderful sauce that can be used as a dressing or dip. Essentially curry spices with yoghurt or mayonnaise and mango chutney, Coronation Chicken was developed for the late Queen’s coronation in 1953, and was seen as utterly groundbreaking and decadent. Serve this is a standalone salad, with grilled meats, or even as a fresh and healthy side to butter chicken. Republicans welcome!
Most of our mild curry blends will work in the dressing, we have used our popular MILD MADRAS STYLE CURRY.
We like to serve this salad with barbecued TANDOORI chicken thighs.

DUKKAH and pumpkin are a match made in heaven. The blend of mild coriander and cumin with pistachios and hazelnuts in the dukkah make it a great salad addition. We also have our Aussie version, OCKKAH, which works well too.
We like to serve this salad as part of a vegetarian spread, or with some SUMAC grilled lamb.
The roast Dukkah pumpkin can also be pureed into a lovely soup by adding 2 cups of stock and 1/2 cup of cream or yoghurt.

You can’t go wrong with any variation of this salad. It makes a good self-assembly salad for families, and kids love to crush the corn chips on top.
We used our best selling GUACAMOLE SPICE MIX in the dressing, but you can also use our versatile MEXICAN SPICE MIX. Both of these are mild blends – if you’d like some chilli hit, add some CHILLI LIME SALT or MEXICAN CHILLI POWDER.

One of the prettiest salads to put on the table, this also has gorgeous flavour from the sweet fruit and tart pomegranate molasses.
We’ve topped the salad with our CRUNCHY SALAD SPRINKLE so colour, flavour and texture are all covered.
Use the sprinkle on any salads or sandwiches, and it makes an excellent bagel topper.
