Mixed Spice




A traditional blend of spices to flavour cakes, biscuits, hot cross buns and desserts.

Description & Use

Mixed Spice is a blend of spices that is generally used in sweet dishes such as fruit cakes, shortbread biscuits, fruit pies and most sweet, baked items. May be used when a recipe calls for a Hot Cross Bun Spice, Pumpkin Pie Spice or Apple Pie Spice.

Blended and packed in Australia from imported ingredients.
Nutrition information applies only to spice blend.


200g butter
385g (3 cups) self raising flour
240g (1 cup) caster sugar
1 tsp Herbie’s Ground Cinnamon
3 tsp Herbie’s Mixed Spice
2 tsp Herbie’s Sesame Seeds (optional)


  1. Melt the butter in a saucepan or in the microwave.
  2. Add sugar, stir well, and mix in the flour and spices.
  3. Press into a well-greased shallow baking tray, sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired, and bake in a 180C oven for about 30 minutes.
  4. Cut the shortbread into squares and cool in the tin.
  5. Turn out when cool, and store in an airtight container with a vanilla bean (optional).
