Below you’ll find our FAQs. If your question is not included, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us – we’ll be more than happy to answer it!
Where can I buy herbs and spices?
At Herbie’s Spices, you have two options to access our vast array of herbs and spices.
Firstly, a selected range of our products is available from stockists which are located in every state and territory in Australia. Click on the stockists tab and enter your suburb or postcode for the closest to your home.
Secondly, you can buy online on our website. Simply, follow the links on the respective product page, adding the appropriate quantity to your cart.
Can you ship overseas?
This depends where you are located and the products you wish to order.
If you’re living in NZ, you’ll be aware of the strict biosecurity and quarantine laws. As such, we suggest you don’t order any seeds or whole spices, or any citrus products. However, ground spices and spice blends should be fine.
If you live in the UK or Europe, bear in mind that postage from Australia will be costly.
If you live in either the US or Singapore, we have international stockists which can be found on the sidebar of this page. Additionally, postage to Papua New Guinea is affordable and easy through Australia Post.
Regardless of where you live, feel free to reach out to us to see if shipping is possible from our pantry to yours. Once you make contact, we can work out the best way to ship the product to you in the most cost-effective manner possible through Express Post, Parcel Post or Registered Post.

Are my credit card details secure?
As the majority of orders we receive are through our online cart, credit card security is of paramount importance to the Herbie’s Spices team. Our systems and technology are up-to-date with the latest protection software and thoroughly tested against international standards. This means you can trust us to look after your credit card details every time you order with us.
What is the difference between a herb and a spice?
The leaf of a plant used in cooking is known as a herb. Any other part of the plant, often dried, including buds (cloves), bark (cinnamon), roots (ginger), berries (peppercorns), aromatic seeds (cumin) or even the stigma of a flower (saffron) are all spices.
Where are your herbs and spices sourced from?
We source herbs and spices from all over the world, and some are grown in Australia. When you look at any product on our website, it will state the country of origin of that particular item. Every label also includes the country of origin for your reference.
Naturally for spice blends, there is not enough room on the label to put the country of origin of every ingredient. However, as we make all the blends ourselves, you can still look for the country of origin for every item on the website.
How do I store herbs and spices?
The pantry is a great place to store your packs of Herbie’s Spices. Just make sure they are not too close to any heat sources (fridge, oven or dishwasher).
After cutting the top of one of our high-barrier pouches and using some spice, squeeze out as much air as possible and zip the zip-seal closed. Expelling the air makes the spices last longer. Learn more about spice storage here. or see this video Herbie made with our USA distributor:
Can herbs and spices improve my health?
We do not make any health claims with respect to the use of any herbs and spices – we are not qualified to give medical advice. However, if you wish to consume herbs and spices for their beneficial properties, only ever consume them in normal culinary quantities, never use more than you’d normally add to flavour food. For further advice, you should consult a medical practitioner or qualified naturopath.
Do you sell organic herbs and spices?
At the moment, our spices are not certified organic. For more details on dietary information, please click this link.
Are your spices gluten-free?
Gluten (in the form of wheat starch) is not added to any Herbie’s spices or spice blends. In the rare case when besan flour is added as an essential ingredient to a spice blend, it would be clearly marked on the ingredient list.
However, in some instances we cannot guarantee that products don’t contain traces of gluten, due to cross contamination during harvesting, transportation or processing. Some labels carry the statement “May contain traces of gluten due to agricultural practices” to highlight the possible presence of gluten. Click here to learn more about dietary requirements.
Are your spices kosher and halal-certified?
No, we are not certified halal or kosher. Most spices are acceptable to both halal and kosher users and as we do not add any artificial ingredients of animal or seafood products to our spice blends, they should be acceptable as well. All products feature a detailed ingredient list for your reference.
