Mustard Make Your Own
Description
Other Common Names
Wholegrain Mustard, Homemade Mustard.
Description & Use
To make a mild wholegrain mustard, simply empty contents of 1 pack Herbie’s Make Your Own Mustard blend into a mixing bowl, add 125 ml vinegar (red, white or cider) or verjuice, mix thoroughly, pour into glass jar, seal jar and allow to mature for 3 – 4 weeks. Because mustard seeds may absorb moisture at varying rates depending on the crop, it is a good idea to check consistency after 2 weeks. Add up to 75 ml liquid to get desired texture. Sun-dried tomatoes or other dried herbs or spices may also be added to vary the flavour.
You can experiment with different liquids such as vinegar, wine and verjuice to make it hot or mild and even try adding interesting additions such as sun-dried tomatoes. Each 100g pack makes enough mustard to fill a 270mL jar.
