At Herbie’s Spices we have always taken pride in consistently keeping to our core strategic values that we inculcated when we opened our retail store in Rozelle on the 7th of July 1997.
Those values are:
- To have the largest range of culinary herbs, spices and spice blends in the Southern Hemisphere
- To always search the world for the very best quality herbs and spices and to never compromise when we make our all natural spice blends
- To provide advice to our customers via books on spices, spice appreciation discussions and in more recent times via our website
After nearly 19 years, we have decided to close our retail store in Rozelle and concentrate our focus on supplying the 300-plus specialty retailers who sell our spices, and give even more attention to all of you who communicate with us via the internet.
When our tiny business opened its doors in 1997 we had no idea that Australia’s love of spices would grow to the extent that it has. In 2003 we were bursting at the seams in our little shop, so we acquired a factory at Charmhaven on the Central Coast. Following the centuries-old tradition of the spice trade, we called our facility ‘The Spicery’.
Liz and I are a little older than the photo of me with my spices at The Spicery in 2003. However we are as committed as ever to maintaining our core values, spending more time at The Spicery, conducting spice appreciation sessions with our wonderful stockists, and travelling to visit our spice suppliers overseas.
