Quick & Easy Tips

  • Make fried rice Persian Style - use nuts, barberries or currants, chicken or lamb, Turkish spearmint and Persian Spice Mix with cooked rice.
  • Add Chermoula to lamb patties for a Moroccan influence. Serve on a bed of cooked silverbeet or spinach tossed with finely chopped preserved lemon peel.
  • Add Chermoula to a damper recipe and serve with salad and hummus.
  • Stir ground cinnamon quills and currants into porridge before cooking.
  • Stir-fry bok choy in sesame oil with pine nuts and toasted sesame seeds.
  • De-stem mushrooms and sprinkle the inside with Smokey Barbecue spice. Spray with olive oil and grill.
  • Serve hummus with a swirl of olive oil and smoked sweet paprika.
  • Add cracked fennel seeds to a bought good-quality sweet chutney - serve with a cheese platter.
Some sandwich ideas:
  • Cream cheese, semi-dried tomato and sumac
  • Tuna, lettuce and Lemon and Herb Pepper
  • Tomato and Bushman's Pepperpot
  • Brie or Camembert cheese with cracked Panch Phora
  • Honey and Dukkah
  • Roast beef with Tasty Meat Sprinkle


Oriental Mixed vegetables

Stir fry with chopped chillies (or chilli flakes) to taste and a small amount (say ¼ teaspoon) of ground star anise and toasted sesame seeds.

Cauliflower Made Tasty

Sprinkle cauliflower cheese with hot Spanish paprika, sweet smoked paprika or Balmain & Rozelle Spice. Toss steamed florets in butter or oil with a little ground cumin and turmeric - about 2 teaspoons cumin and 1 teaspoon turmeric to a head of cauliflower.

Tasty Grilled Eggplant

Brush with a mixture of garlic, rosemary leaves chopped and olive oil before grilling slices on the barbecue. To 2 tablespoons of oil, add 1 teaspoon garlic powder and 2 teaspoons chopped rosemary leaves.

African Inspired Eggplant

Brush slices of eggplant with olive oil and Herbie's Spices Berbere spice blend before cooking on a griddle or in a pan.

Panch Phora Potato

Drain cubes of partially cooked potato and fry quickly in olive oil and Herbie's Spices Panch Phora until cooked through and golden. Use enough seeds to give all sides of the potato a good coating.

Nutty Potatoes

Add toasted sesame seeds to mashed potato for an attractive appearance and delicious nuttiness and crunch.

Balmain & Rozelle Potatoes

Toss boiled and drained new potatoes in butter and Herbie's Spices Balmain & Rozelle Spice. This blend has a subtle spiciness and pleasing freshnes, from the inclusion of Australian native lemon myrtle leaves. Serve hot or cold.
